Wayne L. Paulson of Kimball died Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 88.

Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball with Rev. Dr. James Gimbel officiating.

Wayne Lowell Paulson was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Cokato to Arnold and Lillian (Bogart) Paulson. Wayne was united in marriage to Nyla Paulson. Together they raised their five children in Kimball where they resided for the past 60 years.

He carved a notable career as a contractor in the construction industry. Renowned for his skill and precision, he took pride in building homes that became beloved havens for families. His talent extended beyond construction; he had a real passion for woodworking and a deep appreciation for old cars. Wayne really loved working at French Lake Auto during his retirement years.

Wayne was an active member of his community, joining the Kimball Lions Club and the Kimball Snowmobile Club, where he enjoyed creating memories and forging friendships that will last a lifetime. His contributions to the community and the lives he touched will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Lillian; daughter Sherri VanVleet; grandson Tristen Paulson; siblings Richard Paulson, Kenny Paulson, and Shirley Habisch; two half-brothers Howard Salmela and Donald Salmela; brother-in-law Alfred Habisch; half sister-in-law Linda Salmela.

He is survived by his wife Nyla Paulson of Watkins; children Tammy (and Ray) Schmidt of South Haven, Wayde (and Jana) of St. Cloud, Brant (and Sally) of Fargo, N.D., and Joshua (and Nicole) of Waite Park; son-in-law Steve VanVleet of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Jeannette (and Don) Shipp, Donna Wiebel, June (and Ted) Johnson, Terry (and Paul) Flatt; half-brothers, Caleb Salmela, Robert (and Kris) Salmela, Roger (and Susan) Salmela and a sister-in-law Yvonne Paulson; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
