Weather column:ÊLet it snow, let it snow, let it snow, and that’s exactly what it did on Saturday.Ê Snowfall amounts are Greater Minnesota ranged from around an inch on up to over ten inches north and east of St. Cloud.Ê
For St. Cloud itself, the city set a November 19th record with 3.8″ of snow reported at the Airport.Ê That beat the old record of 3.6″ set back on November 19, 1948.Ê However, at St. Cloud State University they reported 5.8″ of snowfall.
Ê
Hundreds of accidents were alsoÊreported around the state due to the state’s first real winter storm.Ê The State Patrol reported over 200 accidents between 12 noon and 3 pm aloneÊon Saturday.Ê Parts of I-94 were also shutdown for a time due to accidents and congestion.Ê Most of the snow came to an end by Saturday evening.
Ê
The good news is that it looks like a nice day for traveling before and during Thanksgiving Day.Ê High temperatures on both Wednesday and Thursday will be mild with highs in the low to mid 40s very common.ÊSomeÊ50s are also possible across southwestern and western Minnesota! ÊThere is a chance of a rain/snow mix returning by Saturday.Ê
Ê
Finally, the weather does look like it will cooperate at this point for “Black Friday” as the Christmas Shopping Season gets underway.Ê Have fun shopping!
Ê
Ê
Have a great Thanksgiving Day!
