Wilbert L. Wylie died at his Kimball home Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. He was 70. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball with Rev. Dave Milz officiating. Burial followed in Maine Prairie Cemetery in Kimball. Friends called from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Kimball. Wilbert LeRoy Wylie was born March 24, 1933, in Watkins to Edmund and Elsie (Schultz) Wylie. He was raised in Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School in 1951. May 9, 1953, he married Vernone M. Muehring. Wilbert farmed and also sold agricultural products for many years; he retired in August 2003. They lived in Cokato and Gibbon before moving back to Kimball in 1981. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball. He loved his family, fishing, gardening, music and sports. Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, son Joey, granddaughters Stephanie and Taylor, sister Gladys Grossinger, brother James, and three sisters who died in childhood. He is survived by his wife Vernone of Kimball; children Jill (and Robert) Wise of New Ulm, Jeff Wylie of Becker, Jon (and Melanie) Wylie of Eagan, Julie (and Mark) Spurbeck of Eagan, Janet (and Kurk) Kramer of Sleepy Eye; sisters and brothers Hazel Vick of Fridley, Edward (and Merle) Wylie of Minnetonka, Harold (and Marie) Wylie of Kimball, Dorothy (and Douglas) Buystedt of New Hope; and 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Matthew Wise, Michael Wise, Josh Tibbits, Bruce Fischer, Scott Wylie, Michael Buystedt, Lowell Rieger and Mark Turtle. Organist for the funeral was Ruth Fry.
