William “Bud” Capes, 81

William “Bud” Capes of Kimball died on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 81 years old.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the Church of Christ in Kimball with Pastor Jerry Albert officiating. Burial followed in Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to services at the church. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
William George “Bud” Capes was born on March 22, 1922, in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County, to William B. and Lenora (Bremer) Capes. He married Elveria “Toots” Berthiaume on Sept. 21, 1944, in Hamel, and they farmed in Fair Haven Township. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He had been a member of several Aqua Lanes bowling leagues for more than 40 years. He enjoyed family, friends and fishing.
Bud was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Bruns and Marjorie Schauer, and his brother Eldon.
He is survived by his wife “Toots” of Kimball; their children Richard Sr. (and Sharon) Capes of South Haven, Darlene (and Tom) Rosenow of South Haven, Randy (and Laura) Capes of South Haven; brother Merton (and Sandy) Capes of Florida; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Richard Jr., Jason, Stacy and Kimberly Capes, and Steven and Scott Rosenow. Laura Capes and Lori Miller provided music for the service. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care in Kimball.
