Wrestlers come up short with EV-W

·

Kimball wrestlers kept the Eagles of Eden Valley-Watkins close, but came up short in the end losing 43-31. The Cubs wrestled hard and aggressively, but the lower weights could not compete with EV-W’s more experienced wrestlers. Getting pins for Kimball were Dan Barthel (140), Jeremy Dahnke (160), Brandon Hurrle (215) and Peter Jonas (hwt). The second match was a tough loss to a very good Watertown-Mayer team. The bright spots were pins by Jeremy Dahnke (160), Ryan Nutter (189) and Peter Jonas (hwt). On Friday night, Jan. 23, the Cubs took on conference opponent Rockford. The Cubs matched up very well with the Rockets and wrestled to a 51-27 win. The key to the night was the lighterweight wrestlers who wrestled very aggressively securing 18 points in the first three weights. Getting their first wins on varsity were Derek Orbeck (103) and Jamie Krantz (119). Pins for Kimball were Jacob Kieke (112), David Dahnke (130), Aaron Dahlinger (171) and Peter Jonas (hwt).
