The Kimball wrestling team finally got to start wrestling again after the mandatory eight-day shutdown. The Cubs closed out their regular season on Thursday and Friday. These days were back-to-back because they were make-up meets against conference opponents. Travis Schiefelbein picked up two wins, one by pin, the other by a 19-4 technical fall. Junior Derek Orbeck won three more matches, two by pins, and the other by a 12-5 decision against a good Glencoe-Silver Lake opponent. Derek now has 22 wins on the season with 17 of them by pins. At 160, Luke Schiefelbein won four matches, one by a pin in the first period. Luke now has a seven match win streak going. Senior John Hanley picked up four wins, two by means of pins. John’s win against Rockford moved his record to 5-0 in conference matches. The JV was led by senior Steve Golla, who picked up his second pin of the season. Also, eighth-grader Brandon Doege picked up three wins, one by a major decision. The Cubs will host the individual sections on Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24, at Kimball Area High School.
