Kimball Wrestlers win one then lose to the number 3 seed Norwood Young America in the section quarter-finals. In the first match of the night the Cubs wrestled very well against Zimmerman, beating them 64-15. The Cubs got pins from Jacob Kieke (103), Gary Salmela (125), David Dahnke (130), Dan Barthel (140), John Hanley (160) and Joe Maurer (171). This was Joe’s first win and pin on varsity. In the second match of the night against NYA the matchups did not favor Kimball. Getting the only pin for Kimball was Jeremy Dahnke (152). Dan Barthel (140) lost a close match to a very good wrestler by a score of 4-3, and John Hanley lost a 3-0 match against another very good wrestler. ACGC beat Eden Valley-Watkins to win the right to go to the state tournament as a team from section 5. The individual section tournament will be held Friday at Howard Lake starting at 5 p.m. Feb. 27 with the preliminary round. Semis will start at 12 noon on Saturday. Come and cheer these wrestlers on to the state tournament.
