The Wright County Sheriffs Office, along with the local police departments of Annandale, Buffalo, and Howard Lake, will be targeting impaired drivers during a statewide Safe & Sober enforcement campaign. The end-of-summer effort will run through Labor Day and will include 160 hours of extra enforcement by the Wright County agencies. More than 400 Minnesota agencies will participate. Forty-eight drivers were arrested in Wright County in a similar Labor Day effort last year. “While progress has been made to reduce impaired driving deaths, there’s no question that this illegal behavior continues to dominate our roads,” says Sheriff Gary Miller. “Enhanced enforcement efforts allow law enforcement to best attack impaired driving and steer motorists to make safe decisions.” The Safe & Sober effort will be accompanied by a statewide advertising campaign including TV, radio, and indoor and outdoor advertising.
