Hannah Zipoy recently completed the Congressional Youth Leadership Council’s National Young Leaders State Conference in the Great Lakes Region. This training and development event was held in Minneapolis from Nov. 19 to 22. The conference is designed to distinguish a select group of exceptional students for their scholastic merit and demonstrated leadership ability. The training challenges these scholars to step forward with conviction and confidence to grasp the concepts of leadership that were taught and to act upon their dreams of making a difference in their communities.
Requirements for nomination and attendance at the National Young Leaders State Conference are strict. Nominees are personally selected by those who have directly witnessed their academic and leadership abilities in action: a teacher, educator or other community leader.
Hannah was nominated by her teachers, who recognized her as one of a select group of students with the scholastic merit, maturity and responsibility to represent Minnesota at this unique leadership program for exceptional young leaders.
Hannah joined a group of 150 other students from a wide variety of backgrounds across the Great Lakes Region. The four-day event focused on team building, goal setting, communication, decision making, presentation skills conflict management, project management, diversity and leadership.
Upon her successful completion at the conference, she was awarded an official Certificate of Merit as a testament to her hard work and dedication.
She has acquired many new skills and is anxious to apply what she has learned.
Hannah is the daughter of Tim and Sue Zipoy of Kimball and currently is a ninth-grader at Kimball Area High School.
