Fairhaven Royal Ambassadors to be chosen Saturday

?ÄúThis year has gone by in a blink of an eye.?Äù
It?Äôs the first line of nearly every speech given by outgoing royalty and a sentiment deeply felt by 2016-2017 Fairhaven Royal Ambassadors Alissa Bidwell, Gabrielle Lindquist, and Bailey Loch. In conversations over the last several weeks, they are not yet ready to say goodbye to their titles and crowns. But as Journey sings, ?Äúthe wheel in the sky keeps on turning,?Äù and the time has arrived for these three outstanding young women to leave behind their sashes and gowns and move forward into the next chapters of their lives. All three will be seniors at Annandale High School this next year and have senior photos, their last ?Äúfirst day of school,?Äù graduation, and college to think about. Please join the 2016-2017 Ambassadors Alissa, Gabrielle, and Bailey for their last appearances at Old Settlers Day on June 24, 2017. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and they will celebrate their year of service and pass on their crowns at coronation at 5 p.m.
And as the wheel turns, there are hopeful candidates waiting to fill their shoes and take on the responsibilities that come with wearing the crown and bearing the title Fairhaven Royal Ambassador. From Annandale High School, Siera Dagner and Kenzie Jacobson and from Kimball Area High School, Katlyn Buermann are currently working towards fulfilling the requirements to become an ambassador.
Candidates submit r?©sum?©s and cover letters to apply for the position, which are reviewed by a panel of judges prior to their candidate interviews. Initiative, leadership, and group collaboration are evaluated by the judges at various events throughout the Old Settlers Day Parade and Picnic. As nerve-wracking as it can be, public speaking is crucial to being an ambassador, and candidates have several opportunities to show their skills. And finally, judges consider whether or not a candidate?Äôs choice in evening wear is appropriate and adheres to the wardrobe requirements determined by the ambassador committee. Candidates must receive a total of 70-percent of all possible points in order to receive the title of 2017-2018 Fairhaven Royal Ambassador.
