K/EV-W boys golf team – early conference leader April 26

Last Thursday, April 26, the K/EV-W team braved the wind and traveled to Sauk Centre for a double-header conference meet at the Lynx National Golf Course. The 18-hole meet was broken down into two nine-hole meets, replacing the rescheduled HLWW and Pierz conference meets. The boys took first place as a team in both contests with a score of 181 on the front (Pierz) and a 188 on the back (HLWW). Adam Sanquist captured individual medalist for both meets, shooting an impressive 38 and 40, respectively. Other highlights for the day included birdies for Sanquist and Chase Gustafson. Other individual results: Jack Bates (12) – 49/57; Drew Gustafson (11) – 43/48; Branson Jensen (11) – 55/55; Luke Ashbrook (7) – 51/47; Ben Zipoy (12) – 54/53; Chase Gustafson (10) – 43/49; and Cory Zimmerman (10) – 56/64. The guys will have started another busy week ahead, visiting Maple Lake on Tuesday, May 1, followed by K/EV-W’s home meet on Thursday, May 3.

“The boys are looking very strong, considering they could practice only three days on the course prior to the contest. Right now we have a nine-stroke lead on Pierz, who I knew would be a tough team for us in the conference this season. We have some work to do on our short game and putting, and I see that lead becoming even greater as we get more practice time,” said Coach Zach Boser.
