Young runners excited for cross country season

·

Two seventh-grade girls are on the Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball junior high cross country team 2004-05. Casey Kingman and Kelsey Vigoren are guided by assistant coach Terry Nelson. Coach Nelson picks St. Cloud Cathedral as the section favorite at the varsity level. According to Nelson, the team should make it through sub-sections to face Cathedral in sections. Both Kingman and Vigoren are excited about running. “Two weeks ago, my Dad encouraged me to go out for cross country or track to be in shape for basketball,” Vigoren said. “We go on walks together and he explained to me about the importance of running. “I like to run to feel the wind go through my hair, and feel how hard my heart can beat” Kingman added. “I joined because I need a scholarship for college.” Kingman recently took first place in the Kimball Days Fun Run. This is Vigoren’s first year running competitively. For those interested in running, participating in cross country is a great way to stay in shape.
