4-H’ers strive to make the best better

·

This holiday season, Meeker County 4-H Club members gave back to the community and spread holiday cheer everywhere they went. 4-H’ers volunteered to complete a generous variety of fun activities for the community and helped local families in need during the season of giving; we worked hard to accomplish these tasks and serve our community.

Cosmos Comets 4-H Club members assisted with the annual Cosmos Community Santa Night. They decorated the venue and provided fun crafts and games for families. The Cosmos Comets also helped a local family who lost everything in a house fire before Christmas by purchasing new gifts, craft supplies, microwavable meals, Christmas treats, a small tree, stockings, and holiday decorations.

The Kimball Kruisers 4-H Club wrapped gifts for families in need at the Kimball Giving Tree; members worked together to wrap every gift! They also participated in the annual Holidazzle parade with their 4-H float to grow awareness about the 4-H program and celebrate the holidays.

Members of the Litchfield Satellites 4-H Club received a Food Partner Challenge grant that allowed them to purchase 20 hams, rolls, and butter that were donated to the local food shelf for holiday meals. Participants also put together holiday-themed cookie bags for the food shelf.

The Danielson Hustlers 4-H Club provided two local families in need with complete Thanksgiving meals, and purchased presents for a family in their community. As a festive club activity, the -Danielson Hustlers members caroled at the South Grove Senior Living Apartments to spread joy during the holiday season.

The Koronis Eager Beavers 4-H Club members purchased $418 worth of gifts for boys and girls of all ages ranging from games, toys, beauty products, and blankets from the Giving Tree lists. Families also donated toiletry items to their local Community Center, and the club made ornaments and cards to share with senior citizens.

The Dassel Lamplighters 4-H Club made Birthday Bags that included cake mix, pop, balloons, streamers, candles, and more that were then delivered to the Dassel Food Shelf by club members.

The Forest City Livewires 4-H Club donated to the Toys for Tots organization, and also contributed to the local Meeker County Food Shelf to help serve their community.

Valley Victors 4-H Club members volunteered at Santa Days, where they assisted with bingo and helped run the event smoothly. They packed Eagle Packs for the Food Shelf Backpack program, and made Adopt-A-Grandparent
bags that they will distribute in Watkins next month. Members also decorated a tree for the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce as a fun way to promote 4-H.

Meeker County 4-Hers learned to communicate and work together to achieve our goals while also building friendships and having fun along the way. We used our Heads, Hearts, Hands, and Health to help out in our community during this giving season. We look forward to volunteering again in the future to make the best better.
