6th-graders finish country reports

The 6th-graders at Kimball Elementary School just finished their country reports. They all had to choose a country that they wanted to learn about. Some people chose to have a speaker come in. Here are some of the places talked about and the speakers: o Venezuela – Father Mark is a retired priest who came to live in St. Anne’s parish house. Father Mark came to share about Venezuela. He lived in Venezuela for 10-11 years. Since then, he has gone back frequently to visit. He gave us a quick Spanish lesson along with other information on Venezuela. Reported by Chelsey Maus. o Italy – Mariella Arnold also came to teach about Italy. She taught us a little Italian and showed us some pictures of some important statues, like the statue of David or even the Sistine Chapel, which were made by Michaelangelo. Wine is a very important part of Italy, so Mariella brought grape juice. Mariella actually just came back from Italy a week ago, so what she shared was the latest news. Reported by Rachel Arnold. o Italy – Pam Overland came to Kimball Elementary School to talk to the 6th-graders about Italy. Pam was there for one week in 2005 for work. The students enjoyed learning about Italy. Pam saw the Juliet statue and the Colliseum. She saw many things. She got to see how wine is made and many cool things. Reported by Kayla Overland. o Nicaragua – My grandparents Ron and Kay Brown came to the Kimball Elementary School to talk about my country report on Nicaragua. They told the class about their mission trips to the country and they talked about their lives and what diseases the people died from. Maybe next year my sister will go with   them. Reported by Liz Kastanek. o India – My aunt Anne Wethington went to India in January. She works for the Target company in downtown Minneapolis. She went to India to watch and see how far the Target building is coming along in India. She also talked about how people in India live and what some of the cultures are there. Reported by Claire Arnold. o Germany – Monica Jendro came to our 6th-grade class to talk about Germany. She visited Germany when the Berlin Wall fell. She was lucky enough to get a piece of the Berlin Wall. She shared about her trip, and what she saw. Reported by Claire Arnold.
