Barbara Hooper died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at her South Haven home with her husband and son at her side. She was 66.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Markovich officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., with the memorial service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.
Barbara Lee Hoover was born April 15, 1950, in Delta, Ohio, to Walter “Junior” and Thelma (Lemmon) Williams. She grew up in Delta and graduated from Delta-Pike-York High School in Delta with the Class of 1968. Barb furthered her education with a degree in Home Economics from Ohio University in 1972. Barbara was united in marriage Feb. 16, 1975, to Joseph Hoover at Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta. Together they lived in the Washington, D.C., area until moving to Woodville, Ohio, in 1980. In 2012 they moved to their home in South Haven. On top of taking care of duties at home, Barb worked for 20 years as secretary of the Woodmore High School Athletic Department in Elmore, Ohio, and for eight years as a retail manager at JC Penney in Alexandria, Va. She was very creative in home decorating, and she loved interior design. Barbara’s family was the most important thing in her life, and she loved the time she was able to spend with them.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father Junior Williams, and brother-in-law Chris Wolford.
She is survived by her husband Joe of South Haven, sons Patrick (and Kristin) Hoover of Minneapolis and Phillip (and Angela) Hoover of San Rafael, Calif.; three grandchildren: Giuliana, Lillian and Emilia; mother Thelma Williams of Delta, Ohio; and sisters Sharon Wolford of Delta, Ohio, Janice (and Bob) Brock of Grand Haven, Mich., and Linda (and Frank) Burns of Clinton Township, Mich.
Memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center or CentraCare Hospice, both in St. Cloud. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
