Boys?Äô C-squad wraps up season

On Friday, March 3, the boys?Äô C-squad finished up their season by traveling to Maple Lake to take on the Irish.

After starting the game down 10-0, the boys got the scoring going and played evenly with the Irish for the rest of the first half. The halftime score was 36-27. We did a nice job of pushing the ball up the court before they could set up their 2-3 zone. This allowed us to score some easy baskets.

However, in the second half Maple Lake got hot from 3-point range and we struggled to stop them. They also got some easy rebounds and put back lay-ups.

The final score for the game was 70-47.

A positive from the game was that these 47 points was our season high for scoring. Eight different Cubs found the scoring column including Brian Binsfeld 14, Noah Young 13, Adam Hilbert 7 season high, Michael Stern 4, George Matua 3, Caleb Rhodes 2, Jack Knaus 2, and Hunter Hickman 2.

The C-Squad ended their year with a 1-23 record. However, the record does not show the amount of improvement that was shown from the beginning of the year until the end. We doubled our scoring from barely being able to hit 20 points at the beginning of the year to regularly scoring 35 points per game at the end. Other highlights included hitting a buzzer-beater at Swanville for our one win, and narrowly losing Pierz and Holdingford by single digits after getting beat by 30-plus the first time we played.

I am really proud of all the guys on the team. They never complained that we weren?Äôt winning games or if things were not going their way. They would come to practice every day and do exactly what was asked of them while giving 100 percent. This made it an enjoyable group to coach, and I am glad I had the opportunity.
