Charles Dockendorf of Watkins, formerly of Fredericksburg, Va., died Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins following a short battle with cancer. He was 83.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. To protect the health and safety of all, services are currently being limited as required by state and local authorities and the CDC. Charles Anton Dockendorf was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Watkins to Corby and Eleanor (Theisen) Dockendorf. He married Wanda DuBois on Aug. 5, 1961. Charles was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #453, and V.F.W. Post #5460. Charles enjoyed fishing, and trips to the casino.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife Wanda; parents; brothers Gary, Peter and Daniel; sister Janet; and a grandson.

He is survived by his children Sandra of Columbia Heights, Minn., and Michael of Fredericksburg, Va.; brothers Lloyd Dockendorf of Arizona, and Alan and Wayne Dockendorf of Watkins; sisters Janel of Alaska, and Carol DuBois of Arizona; and several grandchildren.
