What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?
“Every day is a new beginning, but there’s something especially magical about January.” It’s a time of soft snowfalls, quiet nights, and maybe a thoughtful resolution or two. Hopefully, you will resolve to visit the library soon to find out what we have to offer.
The Eden Valley Area Library and the City of Eden Valley are continuing with WalkFit in the Community Center. It’s a chance for the public to walk in a warm and comfortable environment. The times are from 2-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, unless the Community Center is booked for other purposes. Unavailable days/dates include the second Wednesday of each month, Jan. 8, 13, and Feb. 12. If not available on other days, the times will be posted on the library bulletin board. Please use the library entrance, bring along some walking shoes, and get fit. It’s free. No more dealing with icy walkways. Sorry, no pets allowed.
Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange continues. We have a nice selection of puzzles. Bring one in and exchange it for another. Try to make sure the puzzle you are donating has all the pieces. Working a jigsaw puzzle is a great way to spend a snowy evening.
The Eden Valley Area Library Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21, in the library. The book up for discussion is “Native Son” by Richard Wright. Written in the 1940s, it is described by Amazon as “an unsparing reflection on the poverty and feelings of hopelessness experienced by people in inner cities across the country, and of what it means to be black in America.” Donna Wacker is sure this will ignite a lively discussion.
Winter Book Bingo will be available to K-6. A bingo card can be picked up at the library, or contact the library to have it sent to you to print at home. When you fill a bingo card, collect a prize at the library. You will then enter the grand prize drawing. The program will run from Jan. 1 until Feb. 28.
Get Your Mitts on a Good Book will be available to adults as well as students in grades 7-12. Pick up a goal sheet at the library, or contact the library to have it sent to you to print at home. You will set your goal of how many books you will read by Feb. 28 (minimum of three books). When you reach your goal, collect a prize at the library. You will then enter the grand prize drawing.
If you have questions about any of our programs, contact the library by phone at (320) 453-4434, email evlibrary@arvig.net, or message us on Facebook. Our library hours are from 2-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
