What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?

March is the month to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and honor our Irish immigrants. We are so fortunate to have a diverse nation of people. After all, the only ones who are not immigrants or descendants of immigrants are Native Americans.

Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange continues. Bring one puzzle in and exchange it for another. Try to make sure the puzzle you are donating has all the pieces. Working a jigsaw puzzle is a great way to spend a quiet evening.

The Eden Valley Area Library Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, in the library. The book up for discussion is “Dinners with Ruth” by Nina Totenberg. Ms. Totenberg delivers an extraordinary memoir, including her long-lasting friendship with Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Congratulations go out to the winner of the Winter Book Bingo. Oliver Louwagie won the LEGO Robotic Kit. Nicely done, Oliver. Not only were you able to enjoy filling out the bingo sheet, but you also won the prize.

Congratulations as well to Bentley who accomplished quite a feat. He read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. He will have a head start when heading off to school. We are so proud of him! Remember, any parent, guardian or grandparent can pick up a packet for this program. You will be giving your little one a boost for the start of their education.

To see photos of the participants of the Winter Bingo and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, make sure you check out our Facebook page. We are very proud of the accomplishments for our community children.

Spring is coming, so March is a great time to start planning your flower and vegetable gardens. EVAL will again offer free seeds starting April 1. We already have a great selection of non-GMO seeds with more coming in all the time that will benefit you, your family, and our precious bees and butterflies. Mark your calendars for April 1, and pick up free seeds at the library.

If you have questions about any of our programs, contact the library by phone at (320) 453-4434, email evlibrary@arvig.net, or message us on Facebook. Our library hours are 2-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
