Crime Watch: Meeker County Sheriff’s Office responds to multiple reports of theft

On Thursday, Sept. 2, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary at the Galaxy Turkey Farms in Acton Township, as well as at one of their farms located near Manannah. Tools were taken valued in excess of $2,000. Friday, Sept. 3, the Sheriff’s Office received another report of a burglary and theft from Galaxy Farms of Acton Township. A 1998 Ford F-150 pick-up was reported stolen. Also on Sept. 3, White Oak Turkey Farm in Manannah Township reported a burglary. Tools, paintball guns and other items were taken. The Sheriff’s Office also received a theft report from a residence in Forest City Township. A 2003 Polaris ATV valued at about $4,000 was taken. The Sheriff’s Office later learned that the stolen F-150 pick-up had been stopped by a State Trooper before it was reported stolen. The trooper had documented his contact and recorded the individual’s name and license number, which were later used in the investigation. At 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, the State Patrol received a report from a motorist on Hwy. 12 near Grove City that he had been hit by paintballs from a nearby residence. The motorist held one of the suspects until troopers arrived. The trooper apprehended two individuals involved in the incident and identified others at the scene. The paintball guns were confiscated and turned over to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office when it was determined that they had been taken from White Oak Turkey Farm. Based on this and other information, Meeker County deputies began building a case against the suspects. Searches were conducted at two rural Meeker County addresses and an estimated $2,000 worth of tools were recovered. The missing 1998 Ford F-150 was recovered after it was abandoned near Spicer. A search warrant was executed at a residence near Spicer on the evening of Sept. 3. Deputies from Meeker and Kandiyohi counties recovered the stolen 2003 Polaris ATV. Charges are pending against two juvenile males, one from Grove City and one from Atwater. Sheriff’s deputies, State Troopers and the Waite Park Police Department arrested and charges are pending against Chad Meyer, 19, of Grove City, Trevor Palmer, 19, of Waite Park, and Adam Kojetin, 18, of Grove City, in connection with these cases. Stolen power tools were recovered from a pawnshop in St. Cloud as part of the investigation. The case continues to be investigated and other charges may be added.
