In the past two weeks, the Cubs volleyball team has played in two tournaments and three regular matches. The Cubs defeated Winsted-Holy Trinity for a second time this season, Monday, Sept. 15. Scores for the match were 26-24, 26-24, and 25-15. The Cubs faced a strong Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa squad, Thursday, Sept. 18. The Cubs lost 9-25, 13-25, 12-25. The Cubs hosted their annual invitational Saturday, Sept. 20, . The invitational is in round robin format in which the Cubs placed third with a 1-2 record. The Cubs lost their first match to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC), 19-25 and 16-25. In their second match of the day, the Cubs defeated Rogers High School, 25-20 and 25-18. In their third and final match, the Cubs played a scrappy Holdingford team, losing 18-25 and 16-25. This past week was Homecoming for the Cubs. They were soundly defeated by a strong Rockford team, 13-25, 7-25 and 12-25. Saturday, Sept. 27, the Cubs traveled to the Becker Invitational and lost to Milaca (19-25, 9-25), Becker (12-25, 10-25) and Royalton (21-25, 20-25). The Cubs played St. John’s Prep Monday, Sept. 29, and Pierz Tuesday, Sept. 30. Results were not available at the time of printing.
