Dassel-Cokato Arts Association opens their new season with a Comedy Cabaret Saturday, Oct. 15

The Dassel-Cokato Arts Association is excited to open their 2011-2012 season with a Comedy Cabaret, featuring hilarious comedian Jason Schommer. Enjoy good clean comedy and great music provided by the local band, the Salty Doggs. This event will be held at the Dassel History Center and Ergot Museum, 901 First Street North, Dassel.

Jason Schommer is a stand-up comedian whose energetic style and relatable material has made him one of the region’s favorite entertainers. Laugh-until-you-cry stories combine with playful one-liners as Jason discusses a wide array of topics ranging from living in Sin City, the daily struggles of everyday life and his loveable, yet kooky family. A special treat is his hilarious insight into pop culture and the celebrity-crazed world in which we live, as well as his outrageous take on local events and news.

Jason now lives in Las Vegas where he opens nightly for comedy legend and Emmy Award winner Louie Anderson at the Louie Anderson Theater. Louie Anderson has said, “When I first saw Jason I thought of a younger funnier me. I’m proud to have him as my opening act. Soon he will have his own show! He is funny, clever, smart, and on his way to the big time!”

The Salty Doggs Bluegrass Band from Hutchinson will provide music before and after the comedy show. The band consists of four guys who enjoy playing traditional (mostly) bluegrass music. Band members include Larry Flessland, Reid Danielson, Paul Jossart and Greg Kwitek.

Coffee and pretzels will be provided and beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for sale.

General Admission tickets are $15. For advance ticket reservations call D-C Community Education at (320) 286-4120 prior to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14. Tickets will also be available at the door, at the Dassel History Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m., room permitting. Call (320) 286-4120 to confirm ticket availability.

Other Dassel-Cokato Arts Association events this season include a Tonic Sol-fa Holiday Show Friday, Nov. 25, Butch Thompson Jazz Trio concert Jan. 21, and a Mark Schultz Concert May 5.
