Donald Becker, 91

Donald Becker of Kimball, formerly of Watkins, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Paynesville Hospital. He was 91.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins with Fr. Brian Mandel officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Donald H. Becker was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Forest Prairie Township, Meeker County, Minn., to Jacob and Annie (Hennen) Becker. He farmed south of Watkins with his brother Alois, and they raised and sold Percheron horses. Don was proud of his team of horses and took them to many area parades and county fairs. For many years, he used his team of horses to bring Santa Claus into town for the annual Santa Day celebration and to give children rides around town.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mildred Becker, Aurelia Winter, and Mary Ann Stenger; and brothers Nichols, Alois, Clifford, William and Mathew Becker.

He is survived by one niece and four nephews.
