ECFE is getting ready for “Our Town” on March 8, 6:30-8 p.m. in Watkins Elementary gym. Our Town is an actual town that we will make for your child’s play and learning. Cost is $3 per person, which includes a hot dog snack for everyone. Mark your calendar today. • At the Our Town Beauty Shop: Children will get to have their face painted, work on a Barbie Head Hairstyle center, or have their fingernails polished. What a child might they learn at this center: self care, confidence, making choices, cooperation, relaxation, fun. • At the Our Town Library: Children can read a story and “check out” a book to take home to keep. What a child might learn at this center: taking time out to rest from an exciting activity, attention span, library check out processes, self esteem in choosing their own book to keep. • At the Our Town Garage: Children can wash, work on and gas up their vehicle. (Children may bring a three wheel vehicle for this center.) What a child might learn at this center: Kids pretend to use tools, for fine motor, imaginative learning, and cooperative play. Spray bottles for washing the cars helps strengthen small hands. • At the Our Town Cafe: Children can pretend to be waiting on their family. Writing the order, presenting it to the kitchen staff, and serving the family a snack of hot dog, chips, cookie and lemonade turns “pretend” into “real”. What a child might learn at this center: cooperation, two-step directions, coordination, social skills, manners, self esteem boosts, fine and gross motor skill building. • At the Our Town Fitness Center: Kids can work out in the fitness center and receive a “sweatband” for a cool look. What a child might learn at this center: Community support of fitness, gross and fine motor skills, taking turns, hand eye coordination. • At the Our Town Garden Center: Kids can make flower arrangements, plant a flower to take home. What a child might learn at this center: Fine motor skills, cooperation, and appreciation of beauty. • At the Our Town Grocery Store: Kids can pretend
