Gregory “Greg” Bomsta, 61

Greg Bomsta of Kimball died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, with his family by his side. He was 61.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church in Annandale with Pastor Dennis Johnson and Pastor Jeff Droogsma officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.

Gregory “Greg” Russell Bomsta was born Jan. 12, 1956, in Minneapolis to Russell B. and Amelia E. (Boomgaarden) Bomsta. Greg graduated from Edina East High School with the class of 1974. Greg was united in marriage to Nancy Hegnauer Aug. 5, 1978, in Minneapolis. Greg worked construction, as well as starting his own business. This led him to the City of Edina where he was the building inspector for 29 years. Greg’s life was full of adventure as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and his Harleys. In 2011, Greg was baptized and gave his heart and soul to Jesus. Greg received much joy from studying and sharing his faith. In 2014 Greg’s dream came true as God led him to farming.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Amelia Bomsta, and his brother Larry Bomsta.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Kimball; son Daniel (and Rachael) of Kimball, and daughter Julie (and Troy) Palas of Monticello; sisters Diane Bomsta of Edina and Carolyn (David) Levitt of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews.

The casket bearers will be Daniel Bomsta, Troy Palas, Doug Rettke, Matt Rettke, Scott Gensmer, Marty Imholte, and Tim Hannah. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
