On Saturday afternoon, May 28, the Eden Valley Hawks traveled to St. Augusta to face the Gussies. A final run late in the game made the difference and earned the win for the Hawks, 17-16.
Jordan Kelm and Cullen Hoffmann each hit a double and a pair of singles to lead the Hawks at bat. David Pennertz hit 3 singles, and Jackson Geislinger hit 2.
Nathan Geislinger earned the win for Hawks, striking out 5 and walking 4 while allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in the final 5 2/3 innings. Austin Schlangen and Clayton Christian started the game.
Travis Laudenbach was tagged with the loss, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Tyler Bautch, Mitch Gwost, and Marcus Laudenbach also pitched.
For the Gussies, Aaron Fruth hit a pair of doubles and a single.Jake Anderson hit 3 singles.
The Eden Valley Hawks will host the Clearwater Rivercats in a non-league game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 3. They host the Pearl Lake Lakers at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5.
