School Board News In January a new Board will be installed and I want to welcome new board member, Matt Serbus. Matt is a Kimball graduate and is very excited to serve on the School Board. He comes from a family history of serving on the School Board. His mother served several years ago, and Matt hopes to uphold the family tradition of serving the community. In addition, I want to congratulate and welcome back our three incumbent Board members: Dorothy Kersten, Jerome Kuechle and Marguerite Laabs. Congratulations to everyone! I also want to recognize the dedicated service and commitment of Board member, Gerald Gillman. His last meeting as a Board member will be on Thursday, December 18, 2003. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank Jerry for welcoming me and my family to the District. Jerry was the first person that I spoke to from the Board and he made a very good impression of the Kimball community. Jerry has served the District in many different capacities, each of them to the highest degree. He has served as the Board Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Director. Jerry has also served on various committees of which many hours have been logged. He served as the Benton Stearns Education District Board Representative, as the Stearns County Family Services Collaborative Board Representative, as a Board negotiator, budget committee representative, personnel committee representative, building committee representative, community education representative, meet and confer representative and the list goes on. Jerry was always someone that I could call to get the historical perspective on issues and was always willing to help when needed. I know that Jerry is very well respected in the community and he truly deserves the recognition and admiration. He is a resource to this community and I hope to continue to use his expertise in the future. Jerry continues to be very active in the community through his involvement in the Kimball Lions Club, the community theatre group and his church, just to name a few. Thank you for all that you have done for the Kimball Area Public Schools and the Kimball Community. It is people like Jerry that make a community great. I know that I will continue to see Jerry’s involvement in our community and wish him the very best in the future. Thanks again, Jerry!
