Janell Winter of Champlin, formerly of Paynesville and Watkins, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. She was 75. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 10, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Rev. David Hennen and Fr. John Brunner officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Janell H. Winter was born June 22, 1932, in Forest Prairie Township, Meeker County, to Joseph and Sylvia (Ophoven) Hennen. She married Alvin C. Winter Sept. 15, 1956, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. The couple lived at Watkins until moving to Paynesville in 1964. Janell was employed as a deputy registrar for the Department of Motor Vehicle in Paynesville for 22 years. In 2005, the couple moved back to Watkins. Alvin died Feb. 19, 2007, and Janell moved to Champlin in August of 2007. She enjoyed playing cards, ceremics, puzzles and visiting the casino. Janell was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin Winter; and brother Eugene Hennen. Janell is survived by children and their spouses Jack (and Margie) Winter of Paynesville, Deb (and Tim) Leithauser of Oakdale, Jody (and Todd) Lagergren of Coon Rapids, Gary Winter of Stillwater and friend Kate Moyer of Rogers; grandchildren Corey (and Chesley) Winter of Rockville, Melissa Winter of Duluth, Kelsey Winter of Coon Rapids, Kayla Winter of Stillwater, Christine Winter of Stillwater and Cole Leithauser of Oakdale; brother and sisters and their spouses Norbert “Sonny” Hennen of Watkins, Harry (and Joan) Hennen of Maple Lake, Joe “Butch” Hennen of Hanover, Ervin (and Miriam) Hennen of Watkins, Steve (and Angie) Hennen of Hanover, Carol (and Don) Nistler of Watkins, Betty (and Irv) Geislinger of Watkins, and Eileen Kern of Paynesville; and sister-in-law Bev Hennen of New Hope. Casketbearers were Kayla Winter, Melissa Winter, Corey Winter, Randy Kern, Rick Geislinger and Curt Hennen. Music was provided by Kathy Pauls. Arrangements were made by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
