Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities and who work voluntarily in their community. Every member school of MSHSL is invited to nominate one girl and one boy for the ExCEL award. Students must be a high school junior, maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA, participate in MSHSL-sponsored athletic and fine art activities, hold leadership positions and work voluntarily in their community.
Abbey is the daughter of Jennifer and Don Schiefelbein. Abbey participates in cross country, basketball, softball, knowledge bowl and band. She is a member of 4-H, FFA, is a member of National Honor Society and volunteers many hours at church. Ben Zipoy is the son of Susan
and Tim Zipoy. Ben participates in football, wrestling, robotics, trap shooting, golf and band. Ben is in
volved with knowledge bowl peer tutor, is a member of National Honor Society, and volunteers at church events. Congratulations to Abbey and Ben!
