Kimball Express – End of season summary

·
The Kimball Express ended their season Saturday, Aug. 26, in the 100th Annual Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament in the round of 32 with a loss to the Buckman Billygoats 5-4 in 11 innings in Litchfield. It gave the fans everything they wanted in a great amateur baseball game.
Even though the Express came out on the short end, both teams played an exceptional game with the Billygoats walking off the Express with 2 outs in the bottom of the 11th inning. Anyone in attendance or listening on the radio truly got treated to a great amateur baseball game. I feel very proud and fortunate to be a part of the Express baseball team.
The Express had another successful season this year with an 15-11 overall record and 9-5, first-place finish in the Central Valley South.
The team remains to have a great outlook to the 2024 season with a good balance of veteran leadership players along with some spirited and good young talent.
Thanks go out to our fans who supported us throughout the regular season, playoffs, Region 15C Tournament, and finally the State Tournament. Also, thanks to the businesses for their continuing support for baseball in our community. Thanks to the Kimball Legion for providing ice on game days. As always, thanks to the Tri-County News for keeping you up to date with results of each and every one of the Kimball Express games.
See you at the ballpark in 2024!
Tom Marquardt
