Kimball girls start week with win

The Kimball hoopsters started off the week in style Tuesday, Jan. 24, defeating Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, 54-38. Kimball jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first 6 minutes, but the Lakers rallied back and tied the game at 15, with 8:40 remaining in the first half. Kimball led 29-22 at the half. Katie Merchant and Madison Hurrle had three field goals each in the paint. Kimball stretched its lead to 39-26 at the 10-minute mark and built it to 50-35 with 2:21 remaining. Ashley Schindele and Abbey Schiefelbein each connected on three-point baskets during the run to help the Cubs stretch their lead. Kimball dominated the boards with Kenzie Leither and Katie Merchant both grabbing seven rebounds; Schindele had six; and Hurrle pulled down five. Hurrle also had five steals to lead the defense. Kimball moves to 14-2 overall (7-1 in the CMC).
