Mayor Karla Davis recently announced that Kimball will join cities throughout the state to celebrate Minnesota Cities Week slated for Oct. 5-11. The theme of the statewide event is “City Government: Serving Citizens 24/7.” The entire Kimball community is encouraged to take time this week to learn more about the services and programs that Kimball provides to improve the quality of life in the community. “Our city works around the clock to provide vital services to make our city an exceptional place to live, work and play,” Mayor Davis said. “Participating in Minnesota Cities Week offers our community an important opportunity to join communities throughout the state to highlight the essential contributions of cities to the daily lives of people who live and work in our city.” The City of Kimball will offer residents the opportunity to meet and join staff and elected officials for a free meal (sloppy joes, chips, cookies and beverage) from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8. Kimball public works and the police department will offer printed information for the public as well as a chance to meet Viper. The fire department will offer safety and fire prevention information for children and families along with tours of the fire truck from 4:30-6 p.m. The purpose of Minnesota Cities Week is to encourage communities, elected officials, citizens, youth and city service workers to interact and celebrate superior delivery of the services that better their quality of life. This week was set aside to provide citizens with importation information about the services and programs provided by their city, and to introduce the employees that deliver the services. Minnesota Cities Week is a program of the League of Minnesota Cities.
