The annual “Lights on for Safety” event is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 4. During the event, area drivers can have their vehicles inspected and broken exterior lights fixed for free. For the past eight years, St. Cloud Technical College has teamed up with the State Highway Patrol and the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota to host the event. The operation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the St. Cloud Technical College campus. Approximately 30 students in the automotive programs will work with professional technicians to inspect vehicles. Vehicles will also be inspected for other safety issues such as fluid levels and exhaust levels. Last year nearly 100 vehicles were inspected. The college is located at 1540 Northway Drive in St. Cloud. Participants are encouraged to bring an item for the Caritas Food Shelf.
