Kimball Varsity Girls Basketball team played in the Maple Lake Irish Summer Tip Off Basketball tournament on June 30. The Team consisted of Girls Basketball Players from next year Varsity squad. Kimball 35 – Mound Westonka 35 Overtime Win Mindy Hurrle hit a layup in overtime with 1:00 left to play. The defense then held MW to one shot attempt in the remaining time to seal the win for the Cubs. Rockford 45 – Kimball 21 Playing back to back games hurt the Cubs as Rockford came out to a 10-0 lead. Kimball reserves battled back into it and played good defense cutting the lead back down to 5. Rockford, however, with fresh legs slowly pulled back away. Kimball 35 – Norwood Young America 41 After trailing by 22 to last years state tournament team participant, Kimball battled back to go on a 15-0 run in the last eight minutes to almost pull off the come from behind win. NYA hit some key freethrows in the end to give them the win. As a team, we showed a lot of good things. We are a very aggressive ball club, which at times may get us into foul trouble but also will get us a lot of break aways and fast break points, along with steals.
