REGULAR MEETING
Board of Education
March 17, 2025
Ind. School District 739, Kimball, Minn.
Chair K. Helgeson opened the meeting at 6 p.m. with members E. Helgeson, Mancini, Lindberg, and Libbesmeier in attendance. Member Gallagher attended remotely. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.
Motion by E. Helgeson, seconded by Libbesmeier, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0 via roll-call.
Motion by Lindberg, seconded by Mancini, to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried 6-0 via roll-call.
Consent Agenda included:
• Approve minutes from the February 10, 2025, Regular meeting.
• Approval of Bills.
• Treasurer’s Report.
• Approve reinvestment of $239,000 CD for 365 days, at 4.350%, at Solera National Bank, Lakewood, Colo., maturing March 3, 2026.
• Approve 2025-2026 contract with Marcia Gaetz (Let’s Talk S’More) for speech therapy services.
• Approve 2025-2026 contract with Megan Honer (SLP and Me) for speech therapy services.
• Approve leave of absence request from Olivia Asfeld beginning March 10, 2025.
• Approve added coaching assignment: Fall Musical – Assistants (2) – TBD.
• Approve spring coaching assignment: Spring Play – Assistant – TBD.
• Approve spring coaching assignment: JV Softball – Jamie Leither.
• Resolution Accepting Donations.
Mrs. Bonnifield reported the following:
• Career and Technical Educa-tion (CTE) programming available to Kimball High School Students.
Mr. Timmerman reported the following:
• One book one school was a success. A great deal of participation throughout the school. The students taped me to the gym wall and I actually stuck for a few minutes before I had to be rescued.
• Had some concerns with SMART watches at school so we are treating them like phones – they need to stay in lockers during the day.
• CUBS PRIDE celebration – bounce houses and a 60 ft. obstacle course on Friday. Will stay around for the PIE-sponsored Cubs Night In activity.
• Trying a new photographer in April – have been using Lifetouch; going to try Strawbridge and see how they do. Accommodate entrance conferences. Better availability.
• Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 7-11. We will be getting all of our students in the preschool wing shelter on Thursday, April 10, at 1:45 p.m.
• Numbers for next year 337 (K – 41, 1st – 57, 2nd – 57, 3rd – 58, 4th – 61, 5th – 63). We expect more registrations over the summer. We started 24/25 with 330.
Mr. Widvey reported the following:
• 2025-2026 Calendar: Pre-Labor Day Start Approval.
• Facilities Committee Meeting.
• Budget Committee Meeting.
• READ ACT MOU for High School Special Ed Teachers: Approval in April.
Motion by Libbesmeier, seconded by Mancini, to approve 2025-2026 Pre-Labor Day start calendar, pending state approval. Motion carried 6-0 via roll-call.
Next meeting dates: Benton Stearns Education District Board Meeting: 3/19, School Board Meeting: 4/21 at 6 p.m.
Motion by E. Helgeson, seconded by Lindberg, to adjourn: 6:34 p.m.
