March madness blows in to KES

·

Kimball Elementary Youth Service (K.E.Y.S.) and Kimball Elementary Student Government are teaming up to help the Kimball Area Food Shelf by sponsoring a series of fun activities called March Madness. Events will continue throughout the months of March and April. Two events, Wild Wednesday Open Gym and Popcorn, Pop and a Picture Show have already taken place. Both events were well attended and students had a great time. Other upcoming March Madness events are Classroom Penny Wars March 23-26 in which students may bring loose change to put in a collection site in their classroom. The classes with the most change will win a pizza party from Kimball Express-O. Another Popcorn, Pop and a Picture Show will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 3 in the KAHS cafetorium, featuring “Haunted Mansion” (rated PG). The cost is $2 or two food shelf items. Aqua Lanes will co-sponsor a bowling day April 15. The cost is $4 for three games of bowling, shoes and transportation, if needed. The Kimball Elementary Student Government will sponsor a face painting booth at the Kimball Business and Community Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27. Donations for the food shelf will be accepted at their booth. March Madness was made possible by a $300 grant from Youth as Resources, a United Way program. Money from this grant will be used to help purchase supplies, prizes and project materials to help the Kimball Area Food Shelf. These events are open to the community and families are welcome to attend. If you have a donation you would like to make to the food shelf, you can bring it to the Kimball Elementary office or contact Kimball Community Education at (320)398-3781.
