Ralph Huberty died peacefully Saturday, April 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 87.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Ralph Theodore Huberty was born Jan. 12, 1936, to Leo and Mathilda (Schreifels) Huberty in Watkins. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years as an M48 tank driver. He and his brother Alcuin trained in Fort Hood, Texas, before going to Germany for 18 months.

Ralph worked for Theis/Arnold Chevrolet in Watkins for more than 43 years as a Chevrolet service technician, and part-time for Schwieter Chevrolet in Cold Spring for several years. He was a volunteer for the Watkins Rescue and Ambulance service for more than 30 years. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Anthony’s Church in Watkins for most of his life. He enjoyed watching his five boys’ sporting events, and later his grandkids’. When he was not fixing their vehicles, he gardened during the summer months and snowmobiled during the winter months.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Leonard and Cecilia (Willenbring) Doubek, brother Alcuin Huberty, and sisters-in-law Dorothy (Doubek) Belmont, Ethel (Doubek) Smitz, and Jane (Doubek) Vossen.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Arlene (Doubek) Huberty; his sons Robert Huberty, Father Ronald Huberty, Duane Huberty, Dave (and Lisa Olmscheid) Huberty, and Brian (and Cheryl Boelter) Huberty; grandchildren Kayla Huberty, Brandon Huberty, Connor Huberty, Carter Huberty, Noah and Annie Huberty, Zach Huberty, and Faith Huberty; and great-grandchildren Avery and Micah Huberty, plus one on the way.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Anthony Church or the Watkins Ambulance Service.
