Ryan Rice was recently selected for membership in Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Mixed Choir for the 2003-04 school year. His director at Eden Valley-Watkins High School is Kathy Pauls. Rice was one of 567 students selected from more than 2,125 who auditioned this spring for a position in one of the seven MMEA All-State performing groups. He will attend a summer camp at Bemidji State University. Students participating will have the opportunity to work with some of the finest conductors and music educators in the country as well as meeting other outstanding music students from all across the state. Rice’s camp begins Monday, Aug. 4, and ends Saturday, Aug. 9, with a 10:30 a.m. concert for the All-State Choirs. Students will gather again in Minneapolis next February for rehearsals and performances at Orchestra Hall and the Minneapolis Convention Center. The All-State program is an on-going activity of MMEA, a 2,000-member professional organization representing music educators at all levels and in all areas of music. The mission of MMEA is to provide high quality music education for every student.
