Robert (Rob) William Fodstad, son of William and Carol (Haag) Fodstad, was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, on July 9, 1986. He was raised mostly in Eden Valley and attended Eden Valley-Watkins School District, graduated in 2005, and continued his education by attending Ridgewater Technical College in Hutchinson, obtaining a Non-Destructive Testing degree. Rob was incredibly meticulous and proud of his education and work. His skills proved to be valuable as he was employed as a Calibration Technician for Martin Calibration in Burnsville.
Rob was raised in the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley, being both baptized and confirmed there. In 2024, Rob was united in marriage to Jechil Cabilao, and they have been residing in Bloomington. He had found and married the love of his life and adored the family he had with her. He thoughtfully and intentionally practiced his faith in their home, praying every night and attending church every weekend.
Rob was a genuinely kind and good person who endured hardships throughout his life. Despite it all, he maintained a warm demeanor towards everyone, sparking conversation and creating connections. He enjoyed spending time reading, playing video games, watching movies and animation, and eating cheesecake and sweets. He was especially excited to star as an acting cast member on Dean Erdahl’s latest release. He was a huge history buff, exploring local history and his family heritage. Rob loved to travel, with his most recent one being his trip to the Philippines prior to marrying his wife. After the birth of their son in June of 2025, he was especially excited to return to the Philippines to visit his wife’s family. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Jechil Fodstad of Eden Valley; his children Jhisel “Star” Cabilao and Liam Cabilao Fodstad of Eden Valley; parents William and Carol Fodstad of Eden Valley; siblings Mitchell Fodstad of Mayer, Blaine Fodstad (and fiancée, Dyani Acosta) of Eden Valley, Eric Fodstad (and fiancée, Shaylei Brutger) of Richmond; and grandmother Karin Haag of Eden Valley.
