As part of the Cooperative’s commitment to safety and community, Stearns Electric Association presents an annual one-hour Energy Efficiency and Safety Demonstration to local fourth-grade classrooms throughout our service territory. This presentation teaches children about energy efficiency, and demonstrates ways to stay safe when encountering electricity.
Throughout the presentation, students see first-hand the safety equipment used by electrical line workers, and get a close-up look at various conductors and components of the electrical distribution system. Students also learn the importance of taking simple energy-saving steps. The highlight of the presentation centers on a live electric home and farm model used to demonstrate what happens when individuals, vehicles, and farm equipment encounter power lines.
