It sure has been cold the past few days. Despite the cold, parts of the region saw some light snow on Monday. Accumulation amounts were generally light.
It cleared out on Tuesday as high pressure moved back into the state of Minnesota. With the lack of cloud cover overnight Tuesday night, we had some of the coldest air of the season with overnight lows in the teens and 20s below zero. Thankfully the wind wasn’t too strong or it could have felt much colder.
An Arctic front is expected to arrive for Wednesday. We could see a couple of inches to several inches of snow across the state with this system. The roads will be slick at times so drive carefully.
Strong winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph will follow this system which will cause blowing and drifting of snow and reduced visibility.
It looks dry but cold at this stage for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Merry Christmas and happy Holidays to all of you.
