The Department of Natural Resources has announced an end to the ban on open burning and outdoor smoking in northern Minnesota that has been in effect since August. The restrictions were imposed as a result of forest fire conditions said to be unprecedented in the recorded history of the state. In addition to lifting the ban on outdoor burning, the DNR also announced that any forest roads that were closed due to the forest fire danger are being re-opened.
