Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs Office received an ?Äúattempt to locate?Äù from Willmar Police Department at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, involving a vehicle that had just been involved in a burglary at a residence within the city of Willmar. A Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs deputy located the vehicle on County State Aid Highway 31, just off US Hwy 12 outside of Litchfield. Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs deputies, along with the Litchfield Police Department, stopped the vehicle. Six individuals were brought to the Meeker County Law Enforcement Center and interviewed in connection with the burglary.

A storm hit the area Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 4 and 5. Our area received approximately 10 inches of snow. Several church services were cancelled Sunday morning and residents were kept busy digging through the high drifts. Roads were treacherous and many returning from the Holidays found it hard and even impossible to travel as they had planned.

A new law, which was effective Jan. 2, 1987, was passed by the 1986 Minnesota Legislature and requires homeowners who apply for the property tax homestead credit to put their Social Security numbers on their applications. The law was passed in an effort to prevent property owners from receiving more than one homestead credit on different properties.

The first Christmas basketball tournament hosted by Kimball turned out to be quite successful. Marshall University rolled to consecutive victories over Kimball and Glenwood to take home the championship trophy.
