Prepare! Fall is in the air, and soon the fall cleanup will be completed: time to curl up every day for an hour or two with a good book. I have to say, I read “The Women” by Kristen Hannah recently and highly recommend the read. It is well worth the wait to get your copy.
“Medicare Part D 2025 updates” is coming to the library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. This is an educational program discussing the upcoming 2025 changes to Medicare’s Prescription Drug coverage (Part D). No plan details will be discussed. This is for Medicare-eligible, or anyone who may help Medicare-eligible individuals.
Mental health and substance abuse can sometimes go unnoticed, or someone may not know where to go for help. On Monday Oct. 28, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., a representative from Wellness in the Woods will be at the library. This organization is dedicated to improving access to mental health and substance abuse care for all Minnesota residents. Their mission is to provide accessible, affordable, and helpful peer-led resources with compassionate and nonjudgemental support, advocacy, and opportunities to those who are experiencing or have been affected by mental health and substance use challenges. Call our local library with any questions at (320) 398-3915.
Race to the Library update
Race to the Library challenged Kimball students to see how many visits their class can make to the library throughout the month of September. A prize would be given to the class with the most visits for grades K-4 sponsored by the Kimball Friends of the Library. The first-place classroom is Lorentz with $50 going to their classroom account for a party or other need; second-place classroom goes to Niemi with $40 going to their account; third-place classroom goes to Cardinal with $30 going to their account. Congratulations, classroom students, in visiting your local library.
Race to the Library Too!
Elementary students not attending the local elementary public school also were invited to participate in Race to the Library on an individual level.
To start the race, students in grades K-5 were given a car cut-out and one sticker. They wrote their name and last initial on the car and taped it to the black “roads” that were on display. Additional stickers are added to their cut-out every day they visited (one per day). At the end of September the car with the most stickers received a prize. There was a 7-way tie for first-place: Everly, Renata, Judah, Matthias, Ali, Elsi, and Lorelai all were winners.
There is so much at your local library to benefit from. So many books, e-books, movies, music, and so much more. Your library life is easier with help from the awesome staff, color copiers, free WiFi and Internet computers, fun events for all ages, and time to just sit and read the daily paper.
