Thefts in St. Augusta

·

Deputy Carden Mueller and his FTO Craig Pogatshnik responded to a motor vehicle theft from Pleasureland RV Center in St. Augusta on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The business was reporting that a 2018 Ford F450 pickup had been taken sometime overnight. They had no suspects at the time, and were reviewing video to see if the theft was captured.

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the truck, minus the license plates, was recovered in Illinois, and a subject was arrested. Deputy Mueller continues to work the case with the State of Minnesota and State of Illinois car theft task force to determine if this may be part of a broader ring or was an isolated incident. The value of the truck was just shy of $83,000.

Deputy Brittany Stevens responded to a burglary complaint at a storage facility in St. Augusta on Monday, Feb. 20. The owner reported that, when they tried to enter their unit, the door was stuck, and then the entire locking mechanism fell off. Once they gained entry, they found that numerous pieces of personal property, along with several firearms and ammunition, had been taken. The burglary occurred sometime between early October 2022 and February 22.
