Kimball Lions met on March 18, the scheduled third Monday of the month with minutes by Jan. Meeting was held at our local Library Community Room with President Sarah presiding.
Dinner was again prepared by Lion Jeff. Meeting began at 7 p.m. with Pledge of Allegiance.
Secretary and Treasurer reports were given, and motion carried to accept them.
Guests from the Kimball VexIQ Robotics middle school team, who call themselves the Kimball MicroBots, came in and gave us a demonstration of their robot and its capabilities. This team of two along with their coaches qualified for world championship in Dallas, Texas. They answered our questions and gave a great presentation. Nice job, fellas!
Several members will attend the Zone meeting in Luxemburg on Wednesday, March 27, meeting up with other clubs from our district to talk Lionism and upcoming needs within the district. Some of the Kimball Lions members helped the committee considering having a 5K for Old -Settlers Day with how to organize such an event, this would be a new event for them. Watch for details from them.
Member Dana screened nine preschoolers for eye prevention; there was one referral. Committee members working on the new -athletic area gave an update from the meeting they attended. The AED was tabled for April meeting.
New business was discussed. Motion to donate to the Kimball middle school team MicroBots; motion carried. Motion to donate to the School of Fish event held at the Elementary School each year; motion carried. Motion to allow money for plants for the -shelter and Kimball signs this spring; motion carried.
New officers were announced for our upcoming new year in July, they are: President Mike, 1st-Vice Nora, 2nd-Vice Sarah, Membership Sarah, -Treasurer Dan, Secretary Jan, LCIF Nick, Marketing Nora, Deanna, and Mary; -second-year board members Wayne and Steve; first-year board members Pat D. and Pat B.
Upcoming fundraisers were discussed. Deanna and Steve will do visual checks of the AEDs we have in place. And new officer training will be April 23 in Cold Spring. Those volunteering for the Kimball welcome signs on each side of town will be Wayne and Linda taking west and east, Dan and Tammy taking north, and Ken and Mary taking south end, with a team working on the shelter planters. We now begin meeting at the Lions shelter for our April and summer meetings.
Our annual Golf Tournament is on May 18; that’s right around the corner, so members are out and about getting ready for that day reaching out for help from local businesses. If you are a business and have not ever been contacted and want to advertise or help out with prizes, please reach out to Brian at (320) 248-5325. Also anyone wanting to get a team together, Brian would be happy to get you registered.
