Cubs softball caps regular season with wins over Irish and Falcons

Maple Lake

Sami Winter drove in four runs on one hit to lead the Cubs past Maple Lake 11-1 in the team’s regular season home finale May 13, a game that ended after five innings via 10-run rule. In the fifth inning, Winter hit a grand slam to center field as part of an eight-run frame.

In that fifth inning, Claire Honer hit an RBI single, an error scored one run, Winter hit her grand slam to center field, and Baylie Winter recorded a two-run double.

Maple Lake first to get on the board in the third on an RBI single. A home run to center field by Claire Maus gave the Cubs the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the fourth.

Maus earned the win for the Cubs. The starter gave up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.

Baylie Winter led the Cubs with two hits in three at-bats. Honer stole two bases. As a team, the Cubs stole six bases in the game.

Foley/Playoffs

The Cubs ended the regular season with a 14-0 road victory over the Foley Falcons on May 14 to finish the regular season with a 19-1 record.
