US Cable to pull out of Kimball, Watkins, Eden Valley

·

US Cable sent letters to their customers in Eden Valley, Kimball and Watkins last week announcing that they will suspend service in these communities and expects to have their cable television services discontinued to all three communities by year end. The company has made arrangements with diversiCOM Melrose Telephone Company to turn over all of US Cable’s customers to the cable television service provided by diversiCOM before the US cable system is discontinued. US Cable had approached the city councils in all three communities asking that they approve a resolution allowing US Cable to cease operations and remove their cable plant. All three cities adopted such ordinances clearing the way for the transition to take place. “diversiCOM is very excited about the opportunity to provide these customers with a high-quality, all-digital cable television service,” said Dean Mohs, chief operating officer for diversiCOM. “diversiCOM’s cable television service will provide customers with more channels than they had received in the past, in a crystal clear, all-digital format.” “We are planning to make the transition process as smooth as possible for our customers,” Mohs continued. “We will begin by transitioning customers one city at a time. The plan is to start with the customers in Kimball, followed by Watkins, and finishing with Eden Valley.” Since diversiCOM uses a different technology to deliver its cable television service, customers will need to have the service installed in their homes. diversiCOM will perform the installations at no cost to customers. diversiCOM offers telephone, high-speed Internet, and cable television over their existing telephone lines. They offer several bundled packages that group these services together at a reduced rate. diversiCOM has been offering telephone and other telecommunications services for more than 78 years.
