Ronald Lauer, 73 of Maple Lake, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at his home. He was 73. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery in Chatham Township, Wright County. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Ronald James Lauer was born May 2, 1933, in Mandan, N.D., to Theodore C. and Dina A. (Loran) Lauer. In 1951, he graduated from Maple Lake High School and then served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Marines. Starting during high school, he worked his entire lifetime in the lumber business at Central Lumber in Maple Lake, Mora and Sandstone; Windom Lumber in Windom; Fullerton Lumber in Kimball and Bird Island; and for the past 41 years for Maple Lake Lumber Co. in Maple Lake. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Maple Lake Legion Club #131. For many years, he instructed gun safety classes and was a charter/life member of the MN Deer Hunters Assn. He was a former member of the Sandstone and Kimball Fire departments and was a 26-year member of the Maple Lake Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his family. He is survived by his wife Jeanette; children and their spouses Mike (and Deanna) Lauer, Mark Lauer, Sharon (and Rick) Heberling, Bart (and Marlys) Lauer, Tom (and Melissa) Lauer, all of Maple Lake; grandchildren Jason, Kate and Ann Heberling, Jordan, Dominic and Alana Lauer; step-grandchildren Alicia, Derek, Adam, Daniel and David Northenscold; and sister Doris Turner of Mokelumne Hill, Calif. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of Maple Lake Fire Department.
