A weak cold-front pushed across the area on Monday. This dropped temperatures a bit on Monday as they fell back into the mid- to upper-30s and lower-40s. This was still above average for this time of the year.
Our active weather will continue for the midweek as our next weather disturbance is expected to move out of the Texas/Oklahoma panhandle and could bring some accumulating snow to parts of southern Minnesota on Wednesday. Some light flurries could spill-in to parts of central and west central Minnesota.
Drier weather is expected to return by Wednesday night and most of Thanksgiving Day. A few flurries can’t be ruled out on Thursday.
However, another disturbance is expected to arrive for Friday and into the weekend. This is a stronger system and could bring some accumulating snow to the region for Friday and Saturday.
If you need some travel information you can call 511. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Weather history: On this date in 1985 it was cold all across the state. In northern Minnesota it was especially cold as Crookston dropped to 30 below zero.
Weather facts: Did you know that the Southern Hemisphere “typically has milder winters than the Northern Hemisphere?” This is due to the fact that the Southern Hemisphere has “less land and a more maritime climate.”
